David Martin

Chief Executive Officer, Terra

David calls Coconut Grove home. As CEO of Terra, the Miami development firm he founded in 2001, he has built a portfolio of more than 23 million square feet across South Florida. He sits on Miami-Dade County's Biscayne Bay Task Force and Sea Level Rise Committee, and chairs the Neighborhoods Committee for The Underline.

Terra is active across every major asset class — multifamily, luxury condominium and single-family homes, retail and office, hotels and industrial — and David oversees development, design, construction, financing, marketing, sales and leasing.

Since founding the firm he has worked with architects and designers including Rem Koolhaas/OMA, Renzo Piano, Bjarke Ingels, Rene Gonzalez and Chad Oppenheim.

A Florida native, he has pushed the firm toward resiliency and long-term thinking: green space, renewable energy and transit connectivity built into its projects. He also serves on the Urban Land Institute and the advisory board of the University of Miami's MRED+U program, and Terra supports Nicklaus Children's Hospital Foundation, the Freedom Tower, Vizcaya, The Bass and Teach for America.

He holds an MBA, a JD and his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida, where he sits on the board of the School of Business. He lives in Coconut Grove with his wife and two children.
